As part of the celebration of the National Day of Qatar , the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil Pinto, accompanied the accredited Qatari ambassador to the country, Rashid Fetais, during a protocol reception held in Caracas.
Foreign Minister Gil highlighted the relationship of friendship and cooperation that unites both nations in various areas, such as commercial, energy and tourism, among others.
The diplomat also thanked the State of Qatar for the support and solidarity of the State of Qatar to the Palestinian people in the face of the genocide of the Zionist forces of Israel in the Gaza Strip.
“We are increasingly making (bilateral) agreements that allow us to have investments and agricultural development in Venezuela to export our products. We have also explored the relationship in tourism, in industrial matters and in all areas of economic activity,” Gil said during the reception.
“We share with Qatar a cause that has become a cause of humanity, which is the cause of the Palestinian people. We must thank as humanity the position of respect, support and firmness of the State of Qatar together with Venezuela, demanding and denouncing the genocide being committed in Palestine,” he added.
On the other hand, Minister Gil applauded the firm and categorical rejection shown by the Arab State at the international level in the face of the blockade and economic sanctions imposed unilaterally by the United States government and its allies against Venezuela.
Qatar's National Day, also known as Founder's Day, commemorates the unification of the country in the year 1878 and marks the day that Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammad Bin Thani succeeded his father as leader of the tribes of Qatar.
Caracas and Doha established diplomatic relations on May 24, 1973. Currently, they have 51 years of fruitful and close ties of friendship and cooperation, which have been strengthened over the past two decades, particularly in energy and gas matters.
