The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, held a meeting with his counterpart from the Netherlands, Tom Berendsen, regarding his coincidence in The Hague; where Venezuela will reiterate the incompetence of this body for the resolution for the territory of Guiana Esequiba.
Through his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan diplomat reaffirmed “Venezuela's commitment to good neighbourliness and the strengthening of bilateral relations, as well as the promotion of tourism with the Dutch islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire”.
In addition, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, he invited Dutch companies to invest and cooperate in “various sectors of the Venezuelan economy, with special emphasis on key areas such as agriculture, energy and transport.”
The Venezuelan delegation arrived in The Hague after the “unilateral” call for a hearing by Guyana before the International Court of Justice; in which Venezuela will defend “the historical rights of our nation over the territory of Guiana Essequiba” and will reaffirm “the illegality of this remedy, since it contravenes the Geneva Agreement, the only legal instrument and agreement in force between Venezuela and Guyana to achieve a consensual solution to the territorial dispute,” the Chancellor wrote the day before on his Telegram channel.
