Venezuela signs memorandum of understanding for gas exports with British company BP

The president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, from the Miraflores Palace, within the framework of the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the company British Petroleum (BP) for gas exploration, assured that this action marks the Venezuela of the future.

In that sense, he explained that this action means that “international energy relations are relations of respect, that it is a cooperation based on win-win, of shared benefit and for the benefit of the development of the Venezuelan people.”

He also specified that these resources will form part of two sovereign funds created: one “for the welfare of our workers, for the social protection of the People in health, education, housing, food” and another “for the development of vital infrastructure in Venezuela, electricity, water, roads”.

Specifically, he pointed out that this subscription “represents well-being for the Venezuelan people. So these firm steps that we're taking, we're taking for our country.”
