The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, published a statement on his account on the social network Telegram, in which the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, expresses the people's regret for the sensitive death of retired general Humberto Ortega Saavedra, which occurred on September 30 in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

The statement highlights the trajectory of General Humberto Ortega Saavedra, a Sandinista militant who fought against the Somoza dictatorship and the aggressions of the United States after the liberation of Nicaragua.

Ortega Saavedra is remembered for his courage and love of sacrifice, values he shared with the anonymous Nicaraguans who defended his country.

In this regard, President Maduro extends his condolences to all Nicaraguans, as well as to the family and friends of General Ortega Saavedra. The message underlines the support and solidarity of the Venezuelan Government at this time of mourning.
