Venezuela strengthens diplomatic alliances at a meeting with the Council on Foreign Relations of Egypt, during an important diplomatic meeting between the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic in Cairo, Wilmer Omar Barrientos, and the authorities of the North African nation, who were informed about the imperial threat of the United States in the Caribbean.

The Head of Mission was received by the President of the Council, Ambassador Ahmed Orabi, and Director Ezzat Sada, at a meeting that allowed the strategic dialogue between the two nations to be deepened, the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs (MPPE) reported on its website.

During the meeting, the Venezuelan ambassador warned of the growing militarization of the Caribbean by the United States, which represents a serious violation of the 1967 Treaty of Tlatelolco, which establishes Latin America and the Caribbean as a Nuclear Weapons Free Zone.

Barrientos dismantled the American justification by presenting convincing data: “Venezuela is certified by the United Nations (UN) as a territory free of illicit crops, and only 5% of regional drug trafficking attempts to pass through Venezuela,” he said.

He also highlighted his country's active commitment to the fight against drugs, with the seizure of 52 tons of drugs and the neutralization of 400 illegal aircraft during 2025.

President Orabi expressed Egypt's firm support for Venezuelan sovereignty, calling U.S. actions “a dangerous violation of international law that threatens global stability.”

He emphasized the shared vision between the two countries on a multipolar international order, based on mutual respect and cooperation.

The meeting also celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Egypt, highlighting advances in energy, cultural and economic cooperation.

Ambassador Barrientos highlighted the recent success of Egypt's participation as the guest country of honor at the Venezuela International Book Fair (FILVEN 2025), which strengthened cultural ties between the two nations.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to remain in contact to monitor the situation and for future joint activities to develop bilateral ties.
