The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through
a statement released by
Foreign Minister Yván Gil on his Telegram channel,
welcomed France's recognition of the State of Palestine with its 1967 borders and
East Jerusalem as its capital.
Below is the full text of the
statement:
The Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela welcomes President Emmanuel
Macron's decision to recognize the State of Palestine with its 1967 borders and East
Jerusalem as its capital, in compliance with UN resolutions.
The
occupation of Palestine began in 1948 with the Nakba, when more than 700,000
Palestinians were displaced, beginning decades of apartheid and colonization.
Today, in the face of the genocide in Gaza, with hunger, bombing and forced
displacement as weapons, silence is complicity.
Neutrality is not possible.
Venezuela reaffirms its firm commitment to Palestine and urges all States to recognize it and to protect their people. The Palestinian cause is a cause of all humanity, of justice, legality and sovereignty.
