The Venezuelan ambassador appointed to Uganda, Fatima Fernandes, presented her Letters of Credence to the president of the African nation, Yoweri Museveni, on Tuesday, making her formal position at the head of the Diplomatic Mission in Kampala.

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, wrote on his account on the social network X: “Our ambassador Fatima Fernandes today presented her Credential Letters to the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, marking the beginning of a crucial stage in bilateral relations.”

He reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to strengthen South-South cooperation; at the same time, he assured that “both parties are committed to exploring new forms of collaboration in various sectors, with optimism and determination.”

The appointment of Fernandes took place last December 2023, when she also obtained the approval of the National Assembly, which is why the diplomat presented her Style Copies to the Foreign Minister of Uganda, Jeje Odongo, on January 12.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Uganda were established on April 27, 1970.
