The Venezuelan youth team that competed in the South American Youth Games in Panama received recognition at the Worker's Digital Bank, where it shared with the country's sports and youth authorities.

The meeting brought together the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, María Soto, the Minister for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro, and the Minister for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, while Deputy Ministers Henyelberth Herrera and Juan Carlos Amarante also attended.

The athletes and their coaches participated in an exchange space where they reviewed their performance, since the delegation listened to the National Anthem at 33 awards and signed the best Venezuelan participation in these jousts.

Minister Lotartaro highlighted the pride generated by receiving South American runners-up and affirmed that this generation can continue to expand its achievements with a view to future Olympic cycles.

During his speech, Minister Cardillo thanked the athletes for their recognition and recalled that Venezuela had not achieved a similar result in more than 16 years of participation in these games.

Cardillo noted that the progress in the medal table responds to the joint work between federations, coaches, athletes and the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, in addition to stressing that this performance promotes the construction of the new national sports system.

The head of the sport highlighted the results obtained in athletics, weightlifting, cycling and artistic gymnastics, because they mark the beginning of the Olympic cycle with a projection for the next international events.

He also urged young people to maintain discipline and perseverance, while stating that collective efforts will make it possible to continue to achieve medals for the country.

The president of the COV, María Soto, valued the position achieved in the medal table and recalled that Venezuela came second in America behind Brazil, which she described as a significant advance for youth sports.

Soto indicated that this result reflects an articulated work between the Ministry of Sports, the IND, the federations and the COV, and he assured that it is part of a plan aimed at competing for medals in future Olympic Games.

The gymnast Mia Garcés, triple gold medalist, thanked the invitation to the event and said that the delegation did its best to represent the country in the competition.
