Venezuelan Chamber of Construction proposes direct subsidy for the purchase of homes after the earthquake

The Venezuelan Chamber of Construction (CVC) proposed to directly provide the subsidy for the purchase of housing directly to buyers, through a digital certificate that allows them to select the real estate developer, the president of the CVC, Gustavo García Carrasquero, informed national media.

The union, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), proposed creating a technical commission composed of engineers, universities, academies and State agencies to evaluate public and private urban projects impacted by earthquakes.

In addition, he proposed to complete housing projects through public-private partnerships to be incorporated into the National Solution Plan.

The chamber insisted on a resilient recovery with the updating of urban planning, design and construction regulations, and supported tax exemption for the transfer of buildings to victims, in addition to requesting the temporary elimination of Value Added Tax (VAT) for construction materials produced in the country.

On the other hand, García proposed a fiscal truce and zero tariff for the import of heavy machinery, as well as equipment and supplies, and also a temporary reduction in the legal framework coordinated with the Central Bank of Venezuela and the national superintendency of institutions in the banking sector.
