Venezuelan children shine at the 2025 South American Fencing Championship

The delegation of Venezuelan
shooters participating in the 2025 South American Children's and
Veteran Fencing Championship held at the General Rumiñahui Coliseum in
Quito, Ecuador, won four gold medals and a third place since last Sunday, July 20.
The sabre of the women's under-9
category established Carla López as the absolute winner, after
beating the Amazonian Matinna Dinucci in the final 9-4. While
Colombia's Rafaela Martínez and Antonia Anzola completed the podium of the contest.
In the
under-13 category, the Venezuelan Manuel Álvez beat the Amazonian Lorenzo
Castello 15-10 in the semifinals and won the title by dominating the Chilean Lucas
Astorga 15-10, to make the Venezuelan anthem sound in the award ceremony of this category.
In this same
weapon, Anmary Carabalí (under-11) showed total dominance in the gold
medal contest against Brazil's María Garofolo, whom she beat by a wide 11-4 advantage.
For her part, florist Francia Figueroa won the fourth gold
medal after beating Peruvian Micaela Contreras 9-3.
Finally, the
sablista of the under-9 category, Lucas Bru, gave up 9-6 in the semifinals to
Ecuadorian Benjamín Castro and won the bronze medal. In this same
test, the shooter Giam Salas was in eighth place.
