The delegation of the National Assembly (AN) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela held a meeting this Thursday with the representation of the Russian Federation, headed by Senator Konstantin Iosifovich Kosachev, at the Permanent Headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament in Panama.
The meeting focused on the promotion of Peace Diplomacy and on the review of cooperation mechanisms between the two parliaments. The parties ratified the continuity of the Parliamentary Friendship Group as a space for political and technical coordination between Caracas and Moscow.
Kosachev, president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council, exchanged views with Venezuelan deputies on the bilateral agenda and the challenges of the international context. “Once there, we will address these issues with the Venezuelan leadership,” said the senator, referring to cooperation between the two countries.
For Venezuela, deputies Wilmar Castro Soteldo, Rodolfo Crespo, Azucena Jaspe and Gilberto Giménez Prieto participated, together with Consul Julio Chávez.
During the meeting, parliamentarians pointed out that these spaces seek to consolidate a common line of work based on sovereignty and legislative coordination.
The meeting took place while the Parlatino is discussing model laws on sustainability and regional security, areas in which Venezuela and Russia have expressed interest in moving forward through technical assistance.
The results of the exchange are expected to fuel joint planning for the 2026 legislative period.
