Venezuelan delegation won 23 medals in the Copa América Youth Boxing in Colombia

The representation of Venezuela showed its caste from the first days with technical and fierce performances

The Venezuelan national team won 23 medals in the Youth and Elite Boxing Cup America, which was held in Ibagué, Colombia, with the participation of representatives from 10 countries.

The Ministry of Popular Power for Sports, through its account on the social network Instagram, highlighted that the competition, backed by World Boxing, brought together important exponents of the boxing discipline who faced each other for 10 days in intense days in search of continental glory.

The representation of Venezuela showed its caste from the first days with technical and fierce performances to achieve 6 gold medals, 9 silver and 8 bronze medals, a reflection of the work carried out by the boxers.

Steffany Castillo was the first boxer in the youth delegation to reach the top of the podium, recording two victories and one loss in 51 kg; while Mirandina Génesis Horta won the gold medal in 54 kilograms, after defeating her peers from Colombia (by CSR) and Mexico (decision 5-0) to reach the final against Panamanian Shermaine Batista, whom she beat by a 4-1 split decision.

The third gold medal came from Youly Mena's 60-kilogram gloves, after beating Colombia's Dayana Lievano in the final by unanimous decision (5-0).

The national representation completed the youth medal table with the silver medals of Edmar Muñoz (57 kg), Yoiber López (80 kg), Cristiano Ronaldo Zabaleta (85 kg) and Wilmer Rojas (90 kg). In turn, Cristopher Rojas (50 kg), Kelvin Betancourt (55 kg) and Félix Coa (70 kg) won the bronze medal.
