The Venezuelan long-distance runner and double Pan-American champion, Joselyn Brea, qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after meeting the mark stipulated in the Los Angeles Grand Prix, during the early morning of this Friday.

The Venezuelan woman recorded a time of 14 minutes and 36 seconds to beat her own national record in the 5,000 flat meters and thus reached an Olympic quota once again to be one of the main leaders of the delegation, according to a Venezuelan Television report.

Brea had to surpass the 14-minute mark and 52 seconds to get her rung in the Olympics, but she achieved a significant advantage of several seconds in the competition.

In addition to breaking her national record in the United States, Brea also became a South American record, as reported by the National Sports Institute (IND). The Venezuelan becomes the 26th athlete to qualify for Paris 2024, and is one of the strong candidates to win medals in the highest international sports competition.
