Venezuelan karate delegation runner-up in the Central American and Caribbean “Grand Winner”

The Venezuelan Karate delegation
became the runner-up of the Central American and Caribbean “Grand Winner” that took place
in Mexico.
Venezuela closed with a balance of 14 gold medals
, 18 silver and 33 bronze medals, for a total of 65 medals, being
surpassed by the host country, which was crowned with 48 gold, 34
silver and 57 bronze medals (139).
The podium was completed by Colombia, who accumulated 10
gold, 21 silver and 45 bronze (76).
In the individual competitions, Isabella
Gutiérrez won the gold medal in kumite cadet +61 kg after beating Colombia's Mariana García 8-0.
Fabiola Luna did the same with a victory in
Kumite cadet -47 kg with a score of 8-3 against Colombia's Violeta Carvajal.
In the same way, Sofía Riveros became
champion in cadet -61 kg after defeating Mexico's Valeria Flores 11-3, just
as Ricardo Blanco won gold in cadet kumite -63 kg by winning 3-0 against Mexican Saúl Delgado.
In the junior categories, Leonardo Cariel won
the gold in kata after beating Mexico's Gabriel Razo 5-0, and Fabián
Márquez excelled in kumite junior -68 kg with a 7-4 win against Mexico's Jose Garza.
The kata team competition also left
good news for Venezuela, where the women's team won a
silver medal, yielding only to the Mexican national team in the final.
On the other hand, in the Kumite under-21 category, a final was
held between Venezuelans that left Gabriel Rivera with the gold
medal after beating Chamuel García 10-2.
