Venezuelan national swimming team goes into action this Saturday in Singapore

The Venezuelan swimming delegation will take action this Saturday, July 26 at the swimming pool complex of the World Aquatic Center, home of the Singapore 2025 World Aquatic Sports Championship, which will take place until August 3.

The team that will represent the national tricolor in Asian lands is made up of four outstanding swimmers; the Olympian María Victoria Yegres, representative of Venezuela in Paris 2024 in the 200-meter freestyle event; the experienced Alberto Mestre, who participated in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024; Lismar Lyon, who participated in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires; the continental multi-medalist Jorge Otaiza; and the experienced mermaid Mercedes Toledo.

The competition for Venezuela will begin with the qualifiers on Saturday in the 100 meters butterfly, where L ismar Lyon will be in charge of paving the way for the national team. In addition, Yegres will compete in the 400 meters freestyle, which will seek to advance to the next round.

On Sunday 27, during the second day, Toledo will participate in the 100-meter chest, while Otaiza will swim the 50-meter butterfly, both seeking to qualify for the semifinals.

The third day of July 28 will feature Yegre s, who will compete in the qualifiers of the 200 meters freestyle.

On Tuesday, July 29, during the fourth day, Toledo will seek to advance in the 50-meter chest, during the qualifiers, in a new opportunity to stand out on the world stage.

Mestre will have a new chance on the fifth day of July 30, when he competes in the qualifying round of the 100 meters freestyle.

The sixth day will have Lismar Lyon in the 50-meter butterfly, while Yegres will seek his pass in the 800-meter freestyle.

The Venezuelan delegation will end its participation in the World Cup with the competitions of Mestre in the 50-meter freestyle and Otaiza in the 50-meter butterfly, both events with the objective of advancing to the final rounds.
