The Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE) offered the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) course, aimed at military and civil technical personnel with specialized functions in areas such as geolocation and telecommunications.

The course, organized in coordination with the Deputy Ministry of Defense Education, responds to the need to strengthen national capacities in satellite positioning and strategic use of GNSS technologies, following the inauguration of the first GLONASS station in Guárico state, as part of the strategic alliances signed between Venezuela and the Russian Federation.

The activity, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), involved the participation of 24 people and 16 academic hours of theoretical and practical training over two days.

Among the topics covered in the training course are the introduction to GNSS systems, signal and receiver characteristics, error sources, positioning methods, data post-processing and global trends.

In the same way, a practical workshop was held, where the knowledge acquired in the field was applied, with configuration and leveling of GNSS equipment.

With the inauguration of the first GLONASS station, Venezuela will have multiple benefits in technological and strategic areas such as access to real-time data that promote scientific research and the development of applications in various sectors such as agriculture, mapping and fleet management.
