Venezuelan Rocchio leads Guardians victory with a tow in the ninth inning

Brayan Rocchio single in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday afternoon, giving the Cleveland Guardians, the home team, a 2-1 win against the Kansas City Royals.

The Venezuelan hit with one out in the ninth inning boosted CJ Kayfus who swept the plate and overcame the shot of right fielder Lane Thomas to score the winning run.

Right pitcher Cade Smith (2-0) took the win, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning. The Guardians pitchers limited the Royals to just one hit, a solo home run by Carter Jensen in the second inning. The Royals batters received eight walks, stayed on base seven times and struck out 14 times.
