Venezuelan youth won silver medal at the Virtual Mathematics Olympiad

The young Venezuelan Joseph Pérez, a member of the National Scientific Semilleros Program and from the state of Bolivar, won a silver medal at the Virtual Mathematics Olympiad, an international event organized by the Center for High Performance in Mathematics (CARMA).
The information was released by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, who highlighted the national pride that this new award represents, as a reflection of the policies promoted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the promotion of scientific talent.
“This achievement is a reflection of the commitment and vision of the future of our President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro, who, through initiatives such as the Scientific Seedbeds, promotes and guarantees the formation of a replacement generation prepared to excel in the strategic areas that the Homeland demands,” said Minister Gabriela Jiménez.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez explained that this Virtual Mathematics Olympiad brought together students from the third grade of elementary school to the last year of general secondary education, to evaluate their abilities in solving highly complex mathematical problems.
In this context, the also Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health highlighted the merit of Joseph Pérez, noting that “she demonstrated, once again, that the seed of Venezuelan science, cultivated with care, bears fruits of excellence for the world.”
Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez stressed that her success represents a demonstration of the potential that Venezuelan youth have in the field of knowledge and innovation.
“Its success is the success of a country that is committed to knowledge, innovation and its youth. We are still working for scientific Venezuela!” , concluded.
Recently, Joseph won the bronze medal at the third edition of the International Geometry Olympiad IGOC 2025.
