The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced this Tuesday a plan of sabotage perpetrated by sectors of the national right to collapse the “Angostura” Bridge over the Orinoco River, to disturb the country's peace ahead of the elections next July 28.

From this important project that connects the Bolivar state with Anzoátegui, Rodríguez recalled that President Nicolás Maduro showed evidence of plans to attack vital infrastructure in Venezuela, “they want to cause serious damage to the national electricity system.”

Regarding the Bridge over the Orinoco River, he revealed that it is “a plan that they have been articulating and that fortunately, thanks to our monitoring, security and maintenance system, we have been able to detect (...) the guayas that are in the bridge's sleepers and that support the bridge have been shortening,” he reported.

In this regard, he presented evidence of these actions, revealing that after cutting the guayas “they have left them deposited there, it's a very well articulated plan. Notice that they have to descend 50 meters at the base of the bridge in really very complicated, complex conditions, the temperature there at least 40 degrees Celsius, little oxygen, but notice how they have been cutting between 10 and 20% of the guayas that support the Bridge,” criticized the Executive Vice President.

In this regard, he highlighted that President Maduro ordered the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to take preventive measures. “Initially, the passage of cargo through the Angostura Bridge will be restricted and the movement of cargo transportation to the Orinoquia Bridge will be diverted, while our teams from the Ministry of People's Power for Transportation are taking immediate action,” he said.
