Vinotinto , under the direction of Oswaldo Vizcarrondo, will face the Uzbek national team this Monday in the city of Tashkent (or Tashkent), the vibrant capital of the Asian nation where the Venezuelan national team won a 4-1 victory against Trinidad and Tobago at the Bunyodkor Stadium.

For the match against Uzbekistan, in the same stadium, Vinotinto will bet on the performance of players such as Salomón Rondón and Delvin Alfonzo, who scored a double in the match against the Trinidadians, in what was the first victory of the senior team in official competitions since June 2025.

The Venezuelan squad for these dates combines young players such as Jon Aramburu and Telasco Segovia with more experienced figures such as Rondón and Luis' Cariaco 'González.

This is also the debut of Vizcarrondo, a former Vinotinto player, who seeks to “have a diagnosis” of the squad's situation to evaluate future calls and feed a long-term process for national football, as he told FIFA on Tuesday, and whose statements were released by international agencies.

Vizcarrondo was ratified as technical director of Vinotinto in January, after taking office temporarily after the dismissal of Fernando 'Bocha' Batista, who failed to qualify Venezuela for its first world championship.

For its part, Uzbekistan also comes after a 3-1 victory against Gabon last Friday under the direction of former Italian captain, Fabio Cannavaro, who took over the reins of this team in October last year to guide it in its first world championship participation.

Uzbekistan sealed a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup in June 2025, the first for the country after seven consecutive failed attempts in qualifiers, in the 35 years since its independence.

Venezuela and Uzbekistan have met in only one previous international friendly, on March 28, 2023, which ended with a 1-1 draw.
