In the framework of the International Day of People of African Descent, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the role of social movements in defending Afro-Venezuelan identity and in reclaiming their cultural expressions.
“We honor the rebel heritage left to us by our African ancestors, on this International Day for People of African Descent. We exalt our roots and embrace social movements that fight for the recognition and vindication of the different cultural expressions that make up Afro-Venezuelan identity,” said the Head of State through his Telegram channel.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian Revolution to building a society based on social justice and respect for the dignity of all people.
“We are proud of our African descent and we raise our voices against all forms of exclusion. We will continue to build a Homeland of social justice, where the dignity of all is respected,” he said.
