WHO warns of the risk of a cholera outbreak in northern Lebanon

The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Abdinasir Abubakar, warned of the risk of the cholera outbreak in northern Lebanon.



“Recently, a case of cholera was confirmed in northern Lebanon, in an area where the population was not vaccinated. With the arrival of hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the south of the country and having no protection against this disease, the risk of transmission is very high,” Abubakar said during a press conference.


He stressed that the WHO has taken measures to address the situation that is being generated in this nation.




For its part, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that a case of cholera was registered in the province of Akkar on October 14, according to a note from the Sputnik news agency .
