With a wreath-laying ceremony before the sarcophagus of the Father
of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar,
in the Monumental Complex National Pantheon and Mausoleum of the Liberator, the Minister of People's Power for
Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, together with the ambassador of the State of Palestine accredited in
Venezuela, Fadi Alzaben,
celebrated 15 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the
vice-ministries of Asia, the Middle East and
Oceania, Latin America, Europe, the Caribbean and International Communication;

for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza and other representatives of the Palestinian State accredited in the country.
On April 27, 2009, under the Government of the Eternal Commander, Hugo Chávez Frías, Venezuela recognized
the State of Palestine and
established diplomatic relations, being the first country in the
Americas to recognize the sovereignty of this Arab people.
Since then, cooperation agreements have been signed in the
fields of education, economy, trade, energy, agriculture, culture,
tourism, communication, sports, defense, security and health.
In addition, the Bolivarian Government in different international
settings has firmly supported the rights of the
Palestinian people in the face of illegal occupation and Israel's incessant attacks on the
Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
At the recent XXIII Summit of Heads of State and
Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement
(ALBA-TCP), the Venezuelan Head of State,
Nicolás Maduro, read and approved a special statement, which expresses the
call to the international community to impose an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and
to stop genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity against their
people who violate the principles and purposes of
the Charter of the United Nations, International Law and
International Humanitarian Law.
