With total success, a municipal discussion of drummers and Sanjuaneros was held in Ocumare de la Costa de Aragua

In an environment full of tradition, rhythm, culture and mysticism, the Municipal Conversatory of Drummers and Sanjuaneros was held with total success: Drum Pedagogy, Analysis and Experiences of Our Dance Forms in Ocumare de la Costa de Oro, organized by El Templete Afro Ocumareño.
The meeting, which lasted from the early hours of the morning until late in the afternoon, was the meeting place of the San Sebastián Club of the population, which became an enriching day of exchange of knowledge, play and dance that reaffirms the Afro-descendant identity of the region.
The activity, according to a press release from the municipality, was under the direction of Luis Lovera, coordinator of the local Afro movement, and had a massive call that included prominent cultivators and practitioners from various areas and brotherhoods from all over the Costa Aragüeño municipality. In addition, representatives of the single cultural authority of the state of Yaracuy participated, to strengthen interregional ties in favor of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.
Luis Lovera highlighted the importance of this meeting as the ideal setting for pedagogically analyzing the peculiarities of playing and dancing in each area. “This day is the perfect preamble to the great celebration of the coming June 24, Saint John the Baptist Day. We achieved an extraordinary space for the exchange of experiences, where we also evaluate the expectations of the upcoming holiday. This year we cover the topic of dance and its modalities depending on the area and touch,” he said.
The activity had the joint support of the Department of Culture of the government of the Aragua state, with Nicolás González at the head; the mayor's office of the Ocumare municipality of the Gold Coast, under the management of Wilmer Leal, as well as the Costa Aragua and the group of regional government institutions linked to the development and promotion of culture on the Aragüeño coast.
