Woman who posed as mayor of Guayana Esequiba apprehended

In a joint operation between the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) of Bolivar State and the Secretariat of Public Security of Guiana Esequiba, the 42-year-old citizen Zhyara Alejandra González was arrested in Puerto Ordaz for posing as the mayor of Guayana Esequiba.

As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the arrest took place in the Centro sector of that city, in the Caroní municipality. As reported by the official report, the one arrested today allegedly committed the crime of usurpation of public functions by, using the alleged outfit, offering contracts and shares in mining projects in the region in exchange for foreign exchange loans and other forms of extortion.

It is important to note that in Guiana Essequiba no mayors or councilors have been elected.

In the middle of the procedure, three cell phones and a Chery vehicle, model Arauca, gray color, were seized.

The situation was notified to the Public Ministry (MP), the state's National Electoral Council (CNE), as well as to the governors of the state of Bolívar and Guayana Esequiba.
