With a tour of the main thoroughfares in the center of the capital, the “Champions Trophy” national tour began this Wednesday, to bring to the Venezuelan people the cup won by the national team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, where Venezuela was crowned for the first time after beating the United States 3-2 in the final.
The caravan started from Campo La Planicie, in the parish of 23 de Enero, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Sports Massification, Juan Carlos Amarante, together with children and young people from sports schools who live in this emblematic training space, VTV reports.
The tour progressed through strategic sectors of the city that included Miraflores, Sucre Avenue, San Martín Avenue and Baralt Avenue, until reaching Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, where the cup was exhibited for the enjoyment of the Venezuelan people, who came en masse to be photographed next to the historic trophy.
Deputy Minister Juan Carlos Amarante pointed out that this national tour complies with the instruction of the President (E) of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to show in every corner of the country the long-awaited trophy obtained by the national team, defeating the powers of this sport.
“On behalf of the members of our glorious baseball team, we bring this trophy so that the Venezuelan people share this joy of a memorable feat, which we can only compare with that first title won in the Amateur World Series, in Havana, Cuba, by the Heroes of 1941,” stressed the Deputy Minister.
The exhibition of the award in Plaza Bolívar was given by the head of the sports cabinet of the Government of Caracas, Richard Betancourt, who highlighted the massive joy of this achievement for the country. “First of all, thank those heroes who marked a milestone on March 17, 2026 for us, twenty years after the creation of the World Classic, we are giving this title to Venezuela,” he said.
Betancourt compared the feat to historic feats of the national sport and highlighted the impact of baseball as a symbol of identity. “Today, the people of Caracas were able to reconnect with this cup that our heroes won in Miami. This tour begins so that all Venezuelans can unite in sports. You have to see the emotion of our children, the elderly and the people in general to be able to photograph themselves with this cup,” he added.
During the day, activities of the so-called “Fan Festival” were also held, which included recreational spaces such as batting boxes for children, interactive screens and photo sets with images of the champions.
In this way, the “Champions Trophy” national tour began its 24-day tour of the country, and in its second caravan it will travel along the Pan-American Highway at the height of Carrizal to Plaza Bolívar r de Los Teques.
