Yaracuy Governorate fumigates against dengue fever in the 14 municipalities of the entity

In the framework of the International Day for the Prevention of Dengue, Yaracuy state initiated a special plan for the abatement, fumigation and elimination of mosquito breeding sites. The day will be carried out for the benefit of 5,300 inhabitants of the 14 municipalities of the entity.

This was reported this Wednesday by the regional director of Environmental Health, Edgar Arteaga, who stressed that the state environmental health team, organized popular power, regional epidemiology and the Comprehensive Community Health Areas (ASIC) participate in the conference, according to the regional press.

“Since the start of the plan, no new cases have been reported in the prioritized areas, which shows the positive impact of citizen participation and institutional commitment,” the official said.

The strategy has focused not only on the elimination of adult mosquitoes through fumigation, but, crucially, on the eradication of their larvae and the elimination of potential breeding sites such as containers, rubbers and any object that can accumulate stagnant water.
