Absence of Ukrainian side delays direct negotiations with Russia

The spokesman for the presidency of the Russian Federation, Dimitri Peskov, confirmed that the Russian delegation has been in the Turkish city of Istanbul since the early hours of this Thursday morning for direct negotiations with Ukraine and reported that the delegates of this country have not come forward.

Telesur stressed that the Russian delegation is already in Istanbul and has been waiting for their counterparts from the Ukrainian side since the morning, who have not come forward, Peskov said.

He also added that Russia does not yet have any information about the delegates of the Volodimir Zelensky regime to the scheduled consultations.

The Kremlin spokesman reported the composition of the Russian delegation and the efforts made with the Government of Türkiye to host direct negotiations since Russian President Vladimir Putin convened the meeting the previous week.

He pointed out that Russia is ready to make the necessary efforts to make the talks fruitful and achieve a lasting peace.
