The Venezuelan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ACAV) received students and representatives of the Ángel Adolfo Polaccini College, located in the Guanare municipality of the Portuguese state, who participated in a training tour through different strategic areas of research and production, with the purpose of strengthening their knowledge in the agroecological and scientific fields.

The day began in the apiculture area, where researchers from the ACAV gave a presentation on the economic, social and environmental importance of the bee Apis mellifera, delving into aspects related to its anatomy, its fundamental role in ecosystems and the research projects carried out by the institution, consolidated as a national reference in the study and sustainable management of beekeeping systems.

Later, visitors toured the aquaculture area, where they learned about the processes associated with the management and production of fish species, as well as the conservation of native species and the scientific advances developed in this line of research aimed at strengthening food sovereignty.

The educational route, according to a press release, continued in the Soil and Remote Sensing laboratories, spaces where work related to cartographic analysis, the interpretation of geospatial data and the technical study of soil samples was explained through the use of specialized high-precision equipment, essential for the planning and sustainable management of agricultural territories.

Finally, the visit culminated in the Transformation laboratory, where the students learned about research related to the use of sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis), the study of the black soldier fly and various bioproduct treatment and improvement processes promoted by the institution, evidencing the potential of applied science for the development of sustainable alternatives.

This experience allowed the educational community to learn first-hand about the scientific, technological and training work carried out by the ACAV to strengthen national production systems, promoting sustainable, innovative agriculture committed to environmental preservation.
