The countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the NGO ship Freedom Flotilla for Gaza, which was in international waters off Malta.

In a statement, the integrationist bloc strongly condemned this attack “against humanitarian solidarity, which amounts to aggression against the millions of human beings who have become sensitized and express their support for the Palestinian people in their right to independence, sovereignty and dignity”.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The entire world has witnessed the suffering of the thousands of Palestinian families, men, women and children whom the inhuman Zionist regime in Israel has subjected to famine, war, pain and, more recently, to a slow and unending genocide.

The Occupying Power has demonstrated that it does not respect limits of any kind by attacking the “Freedom Flotilla” in international waters, a humanitarian mission comprised of more than 70 international activists, human rights defenders from 20 countries dedicated to providing aid to the Palestinian people.

In this regard, the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) strongly condemn this attack on humanitarian solidarity, which amounts to aggression against the millions of human beings who have become sensitized and express their support for the Palestinian people in their right to independence, sovereignty and dignity.

The Israeli State continues to flagrantly violate the most elementary rules of International Law, International Humanitarian Law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, in the face of the silence and complicity of Western powers.

That is why ALBA is obliged to call on the international community to repudiate this act of piracy and terrorism and to express all its solidarity with the heroic Palestinians.

Long live free Palestine!
