The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) expressed their total rejection of the decision of the United States (USA) to reinstate Cuba in the list of countries that supposedly “do not cooperate fully with counterterrorism efforts.”

“This measure constitutes an arbitrary action that responds to political interests and whose purpose is to try to justify new inhumane coercive measures against the Cuban people, deepening the economic, commercial and financial blockade that for decades has been almost unanimously condemned by the international community,” said a statement from the regional bloc.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) strongly repudiates the decision of the United States government to reinstate the Republic of Cuba in the list of countries that “do not fully cooperate with counterterrorism efforts.”

This measure constitutes an arbitrary action that responds to political interests and whose purpose is to try to justify new inhumane coercive measures against the Cuban people, deepening the economic, commercial and financial blockade that for decades has been almost unanimously condemned by the international community.

Cuba has demonstrated with facts its commitment to peace, international cooperation and solidarity between peoples. It has historically been a key actor in processes of dialogue and conflict resolution, in contrast to the interventionist and destabilizing policy openly demonstrated before the world by those who now issue such a decision.

The ALBA-TCP categorically rejects this qualification, which seeks to distort reality and criminalize a nation committed to peace, unconditionally supports the sovereignty, dignity and self-determination of the Cuban people, as well as their historic fight against Washington's aggressions, and calls on the international community to reject these maneuvers that violate the principles of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations, including the principle of peaceful coexistence among nations.
