The Standing Committee on Indigenous Peoples of the National Assembly (AN) activates the Legislative Plan for Ancestral and Social Welfare for the period 2026-2027, with the objective of strengthening the recognition and protection of the rights of native communities, said the president of the aforementioned instance, Kariela Aray
According to a press release from the AN, Aray explained that they are working on an agenda focused on the reform, revision and updating of laws that facilitate access to essential services and environmental preservation in indigenous territories.
“Our work is not measured only in sessions, but in the capacity to transform the reality of communities through laws that protect the identity and future of native peoples,” he said.
He stressed that they are making progress in the territorialization of laws, with a presence in indigenous communities to listen to the original people, in order to ensure that the National Parliament functions as an active facilitator of solutions.
In the same way, the parliamentarian specified that they adapt legal instruments that guarantee the full exercise of autonomy and the sustainable development of indigenous peoples. They also seek to strengthen ties with organs of the public power to affirm national policies and to respect the worldview and ancestral rights.
Aray emphasized that they maintain a multicultural agenda of comprehensive cooperation, aimed at generating alliances with other standing commissions to maximize the impact of regulations through joint work and inter-institutional participation.
He concluded by ratifying that they will continue to articulate efforts that strengthen sovereignty, inclusion, respect and national unity.
