The National Assembly (AN) approved by an Evide majority the appointment of María Elena Uzzo Giannattasio as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Italian Republic, concurrent with the Republic of Malta and the Republic of San Marino, in accordance with the provisions of articles 187, paragraph 14, and 236, paragraph 15, of the Constitution.
During the session, the deputy Yosneisy Paredes emphasized that the appointment responds to Uzzo's trajectory in the diplomatic service and to his knowledge of the historical, human, political and cultural ties between Venezuela and Italy. She stressed that her experience in multilateral fields and her understanding of integration processes make her an appropriate figure to assume this representation at a crucial moment for bilateral relations.
Paredes stressed the importance of this responsibility being assumed by a woman and affirmed that Uzzo will faithfully carry the voice of Venezuela to a country with which there are centuries-old ties.
