AN approved the appointment of Samuel Moncada as ambassador to France with attendance in Andorra and Monaco

The National Assembly (AN) authorized the appointment of Dr. Samuel Reynaldo Moncada Acosta as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the French Republic, with participation in the principalities of Andorra and Monaco.
The decision was declared approved by an obvious majority, announced the President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.
During the session, the deputy Azucena Jaspe presented Moncada's trajectory to the plenary session and stressed that this appointment occurs at a political moment in which Venezuela consolidates its international recognition in Europe.
Jaspe described Moncada as a rigorously trained academic, with a degree in History from the Central University of Venezuela, where he graduated as the first in his class. He explained that he studied modern history at Oxford University and specialized training in United States history, in addition to his time at the Venezuelan Military Academy, where he began his teaching and research career.
He stressed that his diplomatic career includes responsibilities as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister for Europe and Asia, ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, representative of Venezuela to the Organization of American States and permanent representative to the United Nations between 2017 and 2026.
He also recalled that he was vice-president of the UN General Assembly in its 79th and 80th sessions, an agent of the Venezuelan State before the International Court of Justice in the case of Guyana v. Venezuela and the forerunner of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
The deputy indicated that, during her appearance before the Foreign Policy Committee, Moncada stated that her mission in Paris will be aimed at reactivating the framework agreements for cooperation between Venezuela and France, resuming historical ties and promoting relations based on mutual benefit and legal equality between States.
