The National Assembly (AN) approved the Partial Reform of the Law on the Statute of the Function of the Investigative Police.

This legal instrument aimed at updating the structure, competencies and procedures of the country's investigative police bodies, in accordance with the provisions of the Internal Regulations and Debates.

The reform reinforces the organization, performance and internal control mechanisms of judicial police bodies, with the objective of optimizing technical action, inter-institutional coordination and response to crimes. The text of the law incorporates adjustments to the hierarchy, functions and procedures to adapt them to the current needs of the judicial system.

During the session, Deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra recognized the work of the officials of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC).

“To talk about the CICPC is to talk about human rights. Rigorous research means respecting due process, the presumption of innocence and human dignity; it means that the truth is not torn out by force, but is constructed with scientific evidence,” he stressed.

The parliamentarian stressed that the CICPC represents institutional trust for the Venezuelan people, ensuring that the State acts against crime with procedures in accordance with the Constitution. He indicated that his officials work in complex conditions resulting from the blockade and sanctions, maintaining their vocation, discipline and commitment to the truth.

Maduro Guerra highlighted that the work of the CICPC is based on the technical work carried out in laboratories, at crime scenes and specialized analyses, where patient and responsible research supports the safety of citizens. He stated that this is not built only with force, but with intelligence, ethics and humanity.
