AN approves the Electricity System Reform Bill in the first discussion

The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday, in the first discussion, the Organic Bill for the Partial Reform of the Electricity System and Service Act. The deputies will evaluate the central objectives of this regulatory proposal, with the purpose of generating approaches that strengthen the management and operational functioning of the energy sector throughout the country.

The deputy to the National Assembly, Orlando Miranda, was responsible for presenting this project, stating: “Instrument constitutionally based on article 156, which states that it is the competence of the National Public Power, in its number 29, the general regime of domestic public services, and with special emphasis on the electrical system.”


In this regard, Deputy Miranda emphasized that the President (E), Delcy Rodríguez, made a commitment to strengthening the electricity sector through three fundamental pillars: the protection of the National Electricity System (SEN), the comprehensive maintenance of infrastructure and the optimization of direct service to all the Venezuelan people.

In addition, Article 1 of this reform specifies that the purpose of the legal instrument is to regulate the electrical system and the provision of service in the national territory. The regulations also cover international energy exchanges through the activities of generation, transmission, dispatch, distribution and commercialization of the resource.
