During the extraordinary session of the National Assembly (AN), chaired by Jorge Rodríguez, the Draft Agreement was unanimously approved to award the honors of the National Pantheon to the outstanding Venezuelan scientist Humberto Fernández Morán.
In this regard, the president of the AN highlighted that figures such as Fernández Morán embodied peace through their scientific contributions.
“It provided fundamental elements for the development and knowledge of life, of the cell, especially unraveling the mysteries that still exist about the central nervous system and the interaction between neurons,” he said.
For his part, Deputy José Villarroel highlighted the invention of the Diamond Blade by a Venezuelan scientist, a revolutionary instrument in scientific research.
In addition, he recalled the multiple international awards he received and his collaboration with NASA.
“Fernández Morán was a patriot who carried the soul of his country in his heart and always raised the flag of his country,” said Villarroel.
This award, which will be published in the Official Gazette, pays tribute to his invaluable legacy in the field of science and technology.
