Venezuelan right-hander Andrés Machado extended his good time this season in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), after throwing a blank episode during the victory of the Orix Buffalos 5-1 over the Seibú Lions.

In the duel played at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Machado allowed a single hit, awarded a ticket and prescribed two strikeouts to reach seven in the nascent campaign, the Latest News reported.

With this work, the reliever extends his streak to five consecutive appearances without allowing scoring in this start of the NPB season.

After his last two guillotines, Machado left his life strikeout rate for every nine innings (K/9) at an impressive 10.56.

It should be remembered that last year he saved 28 games and left a 2.28 ERA in 53.1 innings.

The Venezuelan averaged 97.7 mph with his fast shipments in 2026, the second highest among the pitchers who are seeing action this season and his swing strike rate (whiff%) of 22.8% is the second highest in the Pacific League (minimum 4 innings).
