The Venezuelan Ángel Rodríguez was proclaimed Olympic champion in the 88 kg division in the Junior Weightlifting World Championship, which is being held in Egypt.

The Venezuelan won the gold one after lifting 365 kg in total, setting a new Pan-American record.

Rodríguez began his participation in the starting test with a starting record of 155 kg, but he raised the load in his first successful attempt to 160 kg, increasing with each attempt and culminating in 168 kg.

For his part, the Kazakh Alikhan Askerbay won the silver with a lifting of 161 kg, while the Egyptian Moustafa Bakry won the bronze medal with 158 kg.

In the racing category, the representative of Kazakhstan, Yerasil Saulebekov won the gold with a lift of 199 kg, the Venezuelan came in second place after lifting 197 and the third place went to Kasajo Askerbay with 194 kg.

With this performance, Rodríguez closed his participation with starting gold, silver in both halves and became world champion in the Olympic total
