The National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA) reports a positive balance for the first two months of the year 2026. The union's president, Ítalo Atencio, reported that the sector experienced a 10% increase in the movement of units sold compared to the same period last year.

Atencio highlighted that this growth responds to renewed confidence in the supermarket and self-service channel. “10% more units were sold on our channel in that period of 2026 versus 2025,” he added.

He also noted that the Venezuelan consumer now prioritizes these establishments over traditional groceries and warehouses. This mass migration strengthens the formal structure of retail trade across the country.

One of the pillars that sustain this growth is strict compliance with current exchange regulations. The sector markets all its products at the rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), which provides a direct competitive advantage for the citizen's pocket.

This fair pricing policy, anchored to the BCV, encourages the influx of customers who seek predictability in their monthly expenses. According to the union's figures, between 6% and 65% of Venezuelans' income is currently spent on the purchase of food and personal hygiene items. Therefore, maintaining the official benchmark is vital to ensure that domestic consumption maintains its upward pace.
