The Anti-Fascist International issued a statement rejecting the presence of the nuclear submarine USS Newport News and the missile cruiser USS Lake Erie in the Caribbean, a maneuver that represents a direct threat to regional stability. In that sense, they described the event as a provocation that compromises peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The document warns that the US military operation does not respond to defensive purposes, but rather seeks to generate fear and facilitate aggressive actions. The organization believes that this is a strategy of psychological warfare with fascist features, aimed at diverting attention from internal conflicts affecting the United States, such as the scandals linked to the Epstein case and the Fort Bragg cartel.
“The Anti-Fascist International proclaims that no nuclear blackmail, no deployment of warships or any threat of extermination can undermine the dignity of Venezuela or that of the Latin American peoples. This act of intimidation is, in reality, the confession of the strategic weakness of an empire in decline that, unable to win the battle of ideas, seeks to impose terror to sustain its hegemony,” the statement reads.
The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Rander Peña, reported on the international statement, highlighting the support of more than 1,500 social movements, parties and personalities from 77 countries.
In that regard, he thanked “the firm statement in the face of the United States nuclear intimidation maneuver in the Caribbean”.
