Anzoátegui paid homage to Gualberto Ibarreto with a sculpture in El Tigre

The Anzoátegui state celebrated the career and legacy of the singer and living cultural heritage of Venezuela, Gualberto Ibarreto, with the unveiling of a monument in his honor, the sculpture was installed on Jesús Subero Avenue in El Tigre, Simón Rodríguez municipality, as part of an initiative promoted by producers in the area with the support of the private sector and the State Government.

The emotional event took place as part of the fourth edition of the Anzoátegui Agrotourism Fair 2025 and was attended by Governor Luis José Marcano and the honoree.

“We have come together with a lot of love to honor one of the greatest artists of the contemporary era in our country. We are pleased with this initiative because it strengthens the values of Venezuelan identity, especially the Eastern one,” said Marcano.

For his part, Gualberto Ibarreto, moved by the recognition, thanked the tribute and gave the audience a special moment interpreting some of his most iconic songs, such as “María Antonia” and “Cowardly Body”.

At 77, the artist reaffirmed his commitment to giving his voice to Venezuela, to keep alive the essence of popular music.

The imposing sculpture, approximately 5.20 meters high, was made in Caripito, Monagas state, by the sculptor David Martínez, with the collaboration of Mario Giuseppe, Rubén Rodríguez and Simón Farcheg.
