The state of Apure was the
scene of the Second National Meeting of Donkeys and Burrita s, an activity that
brought together delegations from Zulia, Yaracuy, Carabobo and Aragua on a day
dedicated to highlighting this traditional Venezuelan cultural manifestation.
During
the event, cultivators and dancers toured the streets of Apurea to the rhythm of the
music and the characteristic color of the burrita dance, a popular expression
that is currently promoting its application to UNESCO as an
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, according to a note from Venezolana de Televisión.
The
participants emphasized that this tradition strengthens the
Venezuelan cultural identity and promotes the encounter between different regions of the country. “This
meeting allows us to see ourselves in diversity and, of course, not seeing
difference as a threat, but as growth,” said some of the educators interviewed
.
They also
highlighted that the demonstration brings together entire generations and keeps alive
a popular tradition that combines dance, music and community participation.
Currently, 21 states in the country are part of the initiative that seeks to consolidate the cultural record to achieve international recognition of this traditional Venezuelan expression.
