The leader and former president of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, will not have to pay compensation of 22.3 billion pesos in the framework of the road case, after civil and commercial judge Marcelo Bruno Dos Santos declared the lawsuit to expire, which led to the closing of the proceedings.
The statement comes after a request issued by the defense of the former president, in charge of Luis Goldin, who had requested the expiry of the process, arguing that there had been no progress in the file since October 19, 2023, Telesur details.
According to the defense of the former president, that was the last act in the case that allowed the procedural deadlines to be suspended. However, the agency added that resolution to the file after the confirmation of the conviction by the Federal Criminal Cassation Chamber.
From the National Highway, they tried to avoid the expiry date with the objective of moving forward with economic compensation and they affirm that “there has been no six-month procedural inactivity to enable the declaration of expiry of the instance”, since “the facts, evidence and judgments in the criminal jurisdiction” were added.
