The Union Association of Professionals and Senior National Road Personnel denounced this week in Argentina ministers Luis Caputo, Federico Sturzenegger, the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, and road managers. The lawsuit before the Federal Justice accuses these officials of embezzling 400 billion pesos collected through the fuel tax.

The diversion occurred because, according to the complaint, the money allocated by law to maintain the roads was allegedly used to speculate on public securities. This financial maneuver prevented the execution of necessary road works across the country during this year.

The lack of investment led to the abandonment of national routes and an internal debt that amounts to 90% of the institution's budget. According to the union, this situation created a high operational risk that endangers road network users.

Faced with this scenario, the union sector requires an urgent judicial investigation for fraud. The purpose of the presentation is to determine the responsibility of economic authorities for the destination of funds and to stop the deterioration of road infrastructure.
