The General Confederation of Labor (CGT), which brings together
the largest unions in Argentina, the Central of Argentine Workers (CTA)
and other political and social groups called this Wednesday for a
protest in the city of Buenos Aires against a 'mega-decree' promoted by the Government of the extreme right Javier Milei.
In this regard, thousands of people gathered in
Plaza Lavalle, in front of the Courts building, where the leaders of the CGT
will deliver a document to the Justice to request the annulment of the
Milei decree, which repeals more than 300 laws and advances labor rights.
Despite an extensive deployment
involving the four federal forces - Federal Police,
National Gendarmerie, Naval Prefecture and Airport Security Police (PSA) -,
traffic in the immediate vicinity of the Palace of Justice, where the Supreme
Court of Justice of the Nation (CSJN) is located, was blocked.
In addition to the CGT and the CTA, the Union of Workers
of the Popular Economy (UTEP) and the Association
of State Workers (ATE) are participating in the march, which has already reported 7,000 dismissals by decree
of the president in public areas.
There are also some left-wing groups such as the
Front of Struggling Organizations (FOL), although these sectors do so with the additional
intention of demanding that the workers' federations call for a general strike.
