Argentinian singer Araceli Julio, a member of the band Satelite Kingston, died at 39 years old at the Central Hospital of San Isidro due to cancer that could not be treated properly. Their access to medicines was interrupted by the government of Javier Milei, which implemented cuts in the supply of oncological drugs through state agencies.
Julio had publicly denounced the suspension of his treatment by the Directorate of Direct Assistance for Special Situations, under the Ministry of Health. Although he obtained a favorable court ruling, the drugs did not arrive on time. His case generated a support campaign to fund legal advice and medical care. The artist leaves behind two children and more than twenty years of musical career.
As part of his neoliberal policy, President Javier Milei made official on July 7, 2025, the closure of the National Cancer Institute, a measure that was part of a package of reforms that included the elimination of other public health agencies.
