The Colorado State Patrol in the United States reported that this Tuesday, January 2, an armed individual broke into and opened the headquarters of the Colorado Supreme Court, in Denver, causing “significant and extensive damage” to the facilities.

“The individual pointed to the security guard and demanded access to other parts of the building. He obtained the keys from the guard and went to other parts of the building and accessed an unknown number of floors,” the aforementioned State Patrol reported Tuesday in a press release, reported on its Prensa Latina website.

According to the police report, the individual shot from a window of the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center, where the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals and other legal and judicial agencies in the state of Denver are located.

It specifies that the incident occurred at approximately 03:00 local time, where the subject then made a call to the 911 emergency service, and then surrendered to the police without offering resistance.

The Colorado State Police statement states that “there are no injuries among the occupants of the building, the suspect or the police personnel.”

Apparently, the incident is not related to previous threats against judges of the Colorado Supreme Court, the document emphasized.

In that regard, in its note, Prensa Latina, highlighted that the magistrates of the judiciary were intimidated after the ruling in December that would leave former President Donald Trump off the state's ballot, whom they declared ineligible under a constitutional amendment.
