The Red Art Foundation culminated the celebration of its anniversary month with a forum dedicated to reflecting on the role of crafts as an expression of identity, cultural production and knowledge, in addition to paying tribute to those who have contributed to the strengthening of this sector in Venezuela.
The activity, carried out at the Andrés Bello National House of Letters, brought together researchers, artisans and cultural promoters in the forum “Management, Identity, Production and Insurgent Aesthetics”, where the challenges of the technification of crafts, the preservation of their heritage and the possibilities of expanding their reach to national and international markets without losing authenticity were discussed.
During the presentations, anthropologist Maury Márquez highlighted craftsmanship as a form of cultural resistance and defended the value of artisanal know-how against mechanized processes.
For her part, historian María Daza claimed the artisanal workshop as a space for the production of knowledge and training, where quality, ethics and creativity must prevail over the logic of industrial imitation.
The president of the Red Art Foundation, Arcelis García, highlighted the importance of recognizing artisans as producers of knowledge and called for strengthening the unity of the sector to face current challenges.
He also highlighted the value of craftsmanship as a tool for collective memory, cultural sovereignty and resistance to visions that reduce these creations to simple commercial objects.
The day concluded with awards given to 140 people and institutions, including artisans, workers, journalists and public bodies, for their contributions to the development of Venezuelan craftsmanship.
With this activity, the Red Art Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of traditional knowledge and the consolidation of cultural policies aimed at preserving the national heritage.
