During the final salute of the “Il Trovatore” performance at the Royal Opera House in London, a member of the choir displayed a Palestinian flag in front of the audience. This gesture elicited the immediate reaction of an alleged member of the institution's staff, who tried to remove the flag and pushed the artist in the process.
The incident, recorded on video, shows the artist with the flag in his hands and a worker, seeing the gesture, struggled with it; but the chorister resisted. The identity of the artist and the attacker has not yet been confirmed.
As published by the website El Diario, similar incidents have occurred in other cultural circles in Great Britain and Europe. At the Glastonbury Festival, the bands Bob Vylan and Kneecap chanted slogans against the Israeli army, triggering a police investigation.
